Telonics VHF Telemetry Receivers
Telonics VHF telemetry receivers are specifically designed for use with conventional VHF transmitters as used in wildlife tracking. These receivers have a very narrow bandwidth coupled with a very fine tuning capability, extremely low noise front end, a broad dynamic range of signal reception, and specialized gain control that allows the user to reduce the signal levels so that a bearing can be established when using a directional antenna (which must be purchased separately). This combination of specialized features is not found in commercial receivers used in other radio applications. Off the shelf or modified commercial receivers lack a number of important characteristics, including the sensitivity required to track the very low power transmitters used in VHF telemetry applications.
The following table lists the current models of Telonics telemetry receivers. Tracking receivers include the new TR-8 scanning receiver. The TVR-1 is short-range test receiver. The TNR-3000 noise reduction system was designed for use with VHF telemetry receivers operating in high noise environments.
