TDP-2 Advanced Digital Data Processor
The TDP-2 Data Processor is a signal processing device compatible with most radio frequency (RF) and ultrasonic telemetry receivers. Its accuracy, resolution, small size, and extremely low power consumption make the TDP-2 ideal for fully portable or fixed-site operation. The TDP-2 provides a large, highly visible liquid crystal display (LCD) as well as integral dual-channel sample-and-hold circuitry compatible with most strip-chart recorders. A front panel switch allows the user to alternately display signal amplitude (with a dynamic range of 80 dB), inter-pulse period (in milliseconds), or precise battery pack voltage (with 0.1-volt resolution). Regardless of what is being displayed, analog outputs are available from both the amplitude and period channels, and can be recorded on a 0-1 milliampere (mA), dual- channel chart recorder. Other data logging devices with 0-1 mA input can also be used. The TDP-2 includes automatic gain control.
A 1-12 dB signal-to-noise ratio threshold-preset control is provided on the front panel to allow use with extremely weak signals and in high background noise environments. An internal rechargeable battery pack provides more than 40 hours of field life. The TDP-2 can also be operated from any 12 VDC power source. A switch is provided which allows either rapid or trickle charging while the processor is in operation. The PERIOD function allows precise measurement, display, and output of the time between received pulses. Using the TDP-2 together with the appropriate high-accuracy transmitters allows measurements of precise body temperature, head/body position, or activity. The AMPLITUDE function provides signal strength of each received pulse in decibels. This function is useful for direction finding based on signal strength, or for some types of activity monitoring.
TDP-2 Includes the Following:
- RC-1 single-wide, heavy saddle leather carrying case
- RP-2 AC charger. Please specify 110-120 VAC, 50/60 Hz (RP-2-110) or 220-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (RP-2-220).
- RP-3-12, 12-volt DC charge cord for vehicles
- RW-6 coiled data cable
Note: The TDP-2 may be purchased without the accessories.
When ordering the TDP-2, please specify desired inter-pulse period (typically 1,000 or 2,000 milliseconds) for full-scale 1.0 milliamperes output. This period should be chosen so that the time between pulses for any given transmitter is always less than the full-scale calibration in order to avoid loss of data. For example, if the time between pulses for the slowest pulsing transmitter is 850-900 milliseconds, it would be convenient to calibrate the instrument at 1,000 milliseconds full scale. In such a case, the correct model number for the instrument would be TDP-2 (1000).

Options and Modifications
Prices are additive to the TDP-2.
TDP-AOM Output Modification
A jack on the front panel of the TDP-2 provides access to a 5-volt output pulse with each processed incoming signal.
TDP-2-CON Change Period for Full-Scale Output from Original Purchase Specs
RP-1-A Replacement Rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium Power Pack
For TR-2 or TDP-2. Equipment must be returned to laboratory for installation of power pack.
RP-1-B Hatchback Battery Pack
For TR-2 or TDP-2. Allows user access to the battery compartment for installation of eight "AA" batteries via a removable cover on the side of the TR-2 or TDP-2 instruments. Supplied with eight "AA" alkaline penlight batteries. Charge circuit on receiver is retained for use with rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium batteries. Caution: Users must be sure NOT to attempt to recharge alkaline batteries. Equipment must be returned to laboratory for installation of hatchback.
TR-2-A External Power Modification
Allows user access to the battery compartment for installation of eight "AA" batteries via a removable cover on the side of the TR-2 or TDP-2 instruments. Supplied with eight "AA" alkaline batteries. In addition, an external 12-28 VDC power source can be utilized. There is not a battery charging circuit with this option.
